The Plot of Las Tres Sisters

Las Tres Sisters follows the story of three sisters who reunite after years of estrangement to fulfill their grandmother’s pilgrimage through rural Mexico. When the eldest sister Maria, played by Marta Méndez Cross, receives a devastating breast cancer diagnosis, she devises a plan to embark on the pilgrimage with her sisters Lucia and Sofia in search of a miracle. With an old map in hand, lack of hiking experience, and their lives in disarray, the trio encounters a series of humorous and heartfelt moments on their journey. Their path takes an unexpected turn when Kin, portrayed by Cristo Fernández, a local with a mysterious past, crosses their path.

Mexican filmmaker Mar Novo directs the script written by Valeria Maldonado, Marta Méndez Cross, Valeria Maldonado, and Youssef Delara. Denisse Prieto, along with the actresses themselves, serves as producers of the film. In addition to Cristo Fernández, Gustavo Castillion, and Gonzalo Ruiz de Velasco also take on executive producer roles. Las Tres Sisters has already garnered recognition, receiving the LFI Works in Progress Initiative Award from the Latino Film Institute and support from Amazon MGM Studios. The film was also featured in the inaugural LALIFF Film Market at the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival.

Cristo Fernández expressed his excitement about the film, highlighting his deep connection to the project as it was filmed in his hometown of Guadalajara, Mexico. He emphasized the importance of the journey over the destination, a theme that resonates with his own life experiences. Fernández’s passion for the film and the collaborative efforts of the entire filmmaking team shine through in his comments, underscoring the heartfelt nature of Las Tres Sisters.

Las Tres Sisters promises to take audiences on an emotional and unforgettable journey through the picturesque landscapes of rural Mexico. With its compelling storyline, talented cast, and dedicated crew, the film is poised to leave a lasting impact on viewers. As the release date approaches, anticipation grows for this cinematic adventure that combines elements of humor, drama, and profound human connection. Get ready to join Maria, Lucia, and Sofia on their quest for hope, healing, and the true meaning of sisterhood.
