Google Unveils New AI Features for Gemini Chatbot

Google made waves with the launch of its new Pixel devices at the recent Made By Google event. However, the tech giant also took the opportunity to showcase some exciting new artificial intelligence (AI) features for its Gemini chatbot. One of the standout upgrades was the introduction of Gemini Live, which brings voice capabilities to the chatbot, allowing users to engage in natural and free-flowing conversations without having to type or read messages.

The Gemini Live feature was highlighted as the focal point of the evening, bringing a new level of interaction to AI-driven conversations. With voice modulations and emotions, Gemini can now provide responses that are eerily human-like. Users will have the option to choose from 10 different voices, each with its energy level, pitch, and tonality, enhancing the personalized experience. Additionally, Gemini Live will offer a hands-free experience, allowing users to continue the conversation even when the device is locked or running in the background, making it akin to a regular phone call.

The introduction of Gemini Live drew comparisons to ChatGPT’s advanced Voice Mode, which was recently released to select paid subscribers. Both features aim to enhance conversational AI experiences by incorporating voice capabilities. Similarly, OpenAI also announced a similar feature – ChatGPT Advanced Voice Mode – just one day before Google’s event, showcasing the competitive landscape in the AI market. Google’s Gemini Live sets itself apart by offering more voice options and a higher context window, giving it a potential edge over its competitors.

Google announced that Gemini Live has started to roll out to Gemini Advanced subscribers on Android devices, with plans to expand to more languages and iOS in the near future. While the launch is currently limited to English-speaking users, Google aims to make the feature more accessible to a global audience in the coming weeks. The Gemini Advanced subscription is part of the Google One AI Premium plan, offering users a comprehensive AI experience for a monthly fee of Rs. 1,950.

Overall, Google’s unveiling of the Gemini Live feature signals a significant step forward in the realm of conversational AI. By integrating voice capabilities and offering a personalized and interactive experience, Gemini sets itself apart as a frontrunner in the AI market. With promising features and plans for expansion, it will be interesting to see how Gemini Live evolves and shapes the future of AI-driven interactions.
